show and tell...

i am always amazed about how much time goes by between blog updates. it's not my attention to neglect it, life just seems to get in the way. i was hoping to at post at least once a week. even if it wasn't with my own art, i was planning on sharing art from others. well my intentions were good. i apologize for not following through.

recently, i have been working on some mixed media pieces as well as some new hazels. also, i have some exciting news! hazel is going to be a stamp that you can use in your own art/craft projects! i am really excited about this. also, hazel is going to be featured in the May/June issue of Cloth Paper Scissors! that too, is extremely exciting! is hazel finally on her way?

here are 2 new hazel's that are in my shop now.

also, i would like to share some other whimsical paintings that i did last weekend. i am loving the bright colors and the little houses.

happy new year to you all and i wish you the best in 2013!

new hazels!

i made these 3 hazels for a good friend of mine. she commissioned them as a gift for her sister who lives in Australia. whoo hoo! hazel is going international! :) anyway, they were really fun and i love the quotes that she chose. i hope her sister likes them.

happy friday!

i am so glad it's friday. i am planning on spending some time painting this weekend. i have been so inspired lately by the blogs that i visit. in particular, flora bowley. she seems to be everywhere these days. many people are taking her on-line workshop and creating fabulous flora inspired art. i even saw an article by her in this month's cloth paper scissors magazine. so i decided to do a flora inspired journal page but plan to do a larger painting on canvas this weekend. this is what i did last night with just paint and mostly my fingers! :)

also, last weekend i had fun with my art journal and created these pages:

this one has tons of layers of paint. i had an entirely different theme going and didn't like it so i just painted over what i had, dabbed off some paint with paper towel to get this really cool textured background.

this is one of my favorites, probably because it has my "hazel" in it. i am really trying to concentrate on having fun with my art and not worry too much about the outcome. enjoying the process is what i am after.

this one is not from my journal. it is my latest "hazel" piece. i love the colors and all of the elements on this one. it's called "i'm dreaming of a house on a hill". i need to print off those words and adhere it and then it's done.

that's all for now. happy creating!

wish

i wish i was a writer. i would love to have one of those blogs that people go to daily and enjoy. but writing is not my... thing. my husband, even my kids are writers. i was just not blessed with the writing gene. sitting here now, i am at a loss. so, instead, i will show you my newest hazel. this might be my favorite one so far. i hope you enjoy it.

oh, have you heard that new Jason Mraz song, "i won't give up". take a minute and listen! it is beautiful!

i am so eXcITeD! dear hazel is being featured on donna downey's blog! i am very greatful to be part of this very creative lady's blog. she is fantastic! be sure that you head on over because there is a coupon code that you can use in my shop.

i am working on some new hazel's and hope to have them in my shop before the weekend is over. if you have an idea for hazel for a custom order, i would gladly do that. do you have a favorite quote that you would love to display? let me know!

below is hazel doing yoga. i see a series of these with hazel in different poses and of course, a great quote to go along with it.

have a wonderful weekend. i don't know about all of you but it is supposed to be 70* and sunny today. i am heading to sausalito this afternoon to meet a friend. :)

my latest...

here is what i created the other day. i think this one might be my favorite. also, i added quite a few new prints and cards to my shop. on february 1st, i am going to advertise my shop on a very well known blog and hopefully that will drive some sales. also, i approached a local shop to see if they would be interested in carrying my prints and cards. next on my list is to see if i can participate in some local art fairs. all of this in hopes that i can quit my day job and do what i love full time.

ok, i have been creating up a storm over here. i have prints and cards for sale in my etsy shop. i just ordered more cards and prints so i will get those in the shop soon. today, i created this one. i wanted to do one about taking a risk. i just love how it turned out and hazel just looks so darn cute, don't you think? too bad i have to go back to work tomorrow. i would love to just stay home with hazel! :)

yesterday, my family and i went on a hike on mt. tamalpais. it was so beautiful! you could see the city of san francisco and down the coast one way and the wide open ocean on the other side. it was amazing!

happy new year!

my new year's resolution is that i am going to concentrate on my art. i am going to focus on my new  mixed-media paintings. hazel is the character in the paintings and she will have some sort of inspirational message. she will be the dear abby of this generation.  i plan to sell prints, cards, bookmarks, magnets and perhaps a hazel doll. i am really excited! if all goes well, i may be able to quit my job and do this full time. how fantastic would that be?
