art journal fun...

it's amazing how fast time goes. i can't believe how long it has been since i last posted. i try to keep my blog updated, but life just gets in the way. between graduations, parties, bbq's, softball tournaments, i have very little time for me. i was, however, able to work in my art journal a few weeks ago and this is what i did...

i hope life slows down a bit so i am able to do more.

i am so glad it's friday. i am planning on spending some time painting this weekend. i have been so inspired lately by the blogs that i visit. in particular, flora bowley. she seems to be everywhere these days. many people are taking her on-line workshop and creating fabulous flora inspired art. i even saw an article by her in this month's cloth paper scissors magazine. so i decided to do a flora inspired journal page but plan to do a larger painting on canvas this weekend. this is what i did last night with just paint and mostly my fingers! :)

also, last weekend i had fun with my art journal and created these pages:

this one has tons of layers of paint. i had an entirely different theme going and didn't like it so i just painted over what i had, dabbed off some paint with paper towel to get this really cool textured background.

this is one of my favorites, probably because it has my "hazel" in it. i am really trying to concentrate on having fun with my art and not worry too much about the outcome. enjoying the process is what i am after.

this one is not from my journal. it is my latest "hazel" piece. i love the colors and all of the elements on this one. it's called "i'm dreaming of a house on a hill". i need to print off those words and adhere it and then it's done.

art journal

i started a new art journal and created all of this in the past 2 days! i love art journaling! it is so fun, spontaneous and easy to store in my limited space. they are kind of like small paintings. so fun! i am going to see if i can teach an art journaling class at my local community center. it may be too late for the spring session, but perhaps in the fall. have a great week!

rainy fall day...

it's a cool rainy fall day here today. i am so glad it is friday because i plan to do a lot of work in my art journal this weekend. my youngest daughter asked me if we could have an "art day". of course, i said yes!! here is another page from my journal. i am really into putting birds into my art. love these guys sitting on the wire.

i cannot believe that i haven't posted anything to my blog in such a long time. earlier, i said i was going to post some photos of my great furniture finds. i will do that soon. just need to take some photos. :) anyway, i have been working in an art journal lately and am going to share what i have been creating. i don't have a lot of room in our new house to create, so i thought keeping an art journal will satisify my creative need and won't take up much room. here is the first page of my journal.
